One of the symptoms of continued childhood dis-respect. we describe feeling “dead inside”. We feel disconnected from ourselves and others. We feel like they are alone in this world and feeling this way. Often we experience hopelessness and helplessness.

Disassociation Anonymous can be seen as an actual physical, real time disconnect in conversations and our life experiences. We often describe not remembering chunks of our
life’s experiences. We can be in the room with you but completely absent. “Not there”.

Disassociation is a real and serious effect of trauma. People who disassociate are not “crazy”. Disassociation is part of the body’s coping mechanism and what has allowed them to survive in many cases intolerable events and circumstances.

 The first step is recognis
ing these symptoms and making a connection with the root cause of your suffering.
