A dissociative mind impairs the normal state of awareness and limits or alters one’s sense of identity, memory or consciousness

Dissociation has become a common defence/reaction to stressful or traumatic situations in addictions. Isolated traumas or repeated traumas may result in a person developing a dissociative method of dealing with reality. A dissociative mind impairs the normal state of awareness and limits or alters one’s sense of identity, memory or consciousness. Dissociative symptoms are as common as anxiety and depression and widely practiced in recovery therapies for addiction only resulting in moving the underlying problems to surface as relapse or a serious personality disorder
